2. Motifs: the tale documents Holden's breakdown. In these opening chapters, we begin to see the reasons behind the breakdown.
- Hunting Hat: When does Holden put on the hunting hat? Why does he do this? Find one quote from which you can infer the reason.
- The baseball mitt: Whose mitt is it? What is on it? Why is this so important to Holden? Find one quote from which you can infer that Holden was traumatized by Allie's death
3. Final review-- review/prepare for either the multiple choice or the essay portion of the final exam.
